Are you ready to ignite the future of logistics together? This position is for a National role, you can be based all over the UK willing to reach one of our offices. The Customs Compliance Manager (Government & Defence) is a strategic compliance leader responsible for ensuring Kuehne+Nagel Government & Defence operations meet the highest standards of customs and trade compliance. Working across bids, customer solutions, operational implementation, audits and training, this role acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, customers and operational teams. The position plays a critical role in protecting the business, supporting customer growth and strengthening Kuehne+Nagel reputation as a trusted logistics partner within the defence and government sector.

How you create impact

  • Provide expert guidance on customs compliance, export controls, sanctions and trade regulations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Government & Defence trade compliance matters.
  • Support commercial bids and new business opportunities by providing compliance expertise during solution design and implementation.
  • Partner with customers to develop compliant and efficient international trade solutions.
  • Develop and lead self-assessment and audit programmes.
  • Identify risks, drive corrective actions and promote continuous improvement.
  • Design and deliver compliance training programmes.
  • Build compliance awareness across operational and commercial teams.
  • Lead compliance projects and process improvements

What we would like you to bring

  • Extensive experience in customs and trade compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of export controls, customs regulations, sanctions and trade compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated industries.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable

  • Defence or Government sector experience.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, EAR and UK Strategic Export Controls.
