Due to continued growth, the expansion of our Birmingham Airport framework, planned winter works at Leeds Bradford Airport, and increasing client demand, we are looking to recruit a Cutting & Coring Apprentice to join our specialist Aviation team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience whilst working towards a nationally recognised NVQ Level 2 in Diamond Drilling & Sawing through an 18-month apprenticeship programme.

You'll earn while you learn, working on live airport projects and building the foundations for a long-term career within the civil engineering and aviation sectors.

About The Role

Based initially at Leeds Bradford Airport, you will support a range of specialist airside maintenance and infrastructure activities, including:

  • Saw cutting of asphalt and concrete surfaces.
  • Diamond drilling and coring operations.
  • Joint preparation and sealing works.
  • Concrete and Maxicrete repair works.
  • Assisting skilled operatives on airside civil engineering projects.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
  • Learning to operate specialist cutting and coring equipment.
  • Participating in site briefings, toolbox talks and permit systems.
  • Working in line with strict health, safety and quality standards.

Following successful completion of your apprenticeship, opportunities will be available to support projects across the wider Aviation business, including airports such as Birmingham, Manchester and Stansted.

Apprenticeship Programme

As part of this role, you will undertake:

NVQ Level 2 in Diamond Drilling & Sawing

  • 18-month apprenticeship programme.
  • Structured practical and classroom-based learning.
  • Mentoring from experienced aviation and specialist operatives.
  • Development of technical skills within a highly specialised industry.
  • Opportunity to progress into qualified Cutting & Coring Operative positions upon successful completion.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who:

  • Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Are keen to learn specialist construction skills.
  • Enjoy working outdoors and as part of a team.
  • Have a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Can follow instructions and work to high standards.
  • Are willing to travel to aviation projects when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
