Cyber Security Consultant, Defence

This role is open to UK Nations only: Essential: Active SC with DV previously held, or active DV

UK Defence is going through its most significant transformation in recent history, as digital, physical and information threats increasingly overlap. You’ll join a growing Defence team helping secure the UK’s next generation of capabilities, from autonomous systems to positioning, navigation and timing (PNT). You’ll advise on adopting new technology securely and building resilience in from the start.

The essentials

£45,000 to £60,000 plus discretionary bonus
Hybrid, 2 to 3 days a week in London, or on client site

What you’ll do

  • Provide Cyber Security advice and assurance across defence programmes, aligned to UK Defence and Government security requirements
  • Support the development of cyber strategies, architectures and operating models that embed Secure by Design
  • Run risk and maturity assessments, setting out the controls needed and the risk reduction each one delivers
  • Assess emerging threats and adversary capabilities against current and future systems, with practical recommendations
  • Support the secure adoption of cloud, data-centric and autonomous capabilities
  • Present findings to senior stakeholders and contribute to business development as the Defence portfolio grows

What you’ll need

  • Cyber Security experience in defence or intelligence, in government or industry
  • Working knowledge of Defence security policy, such as JSP 440, JSP 604 and MOD Secure by Design
  • Experience of risk assessment or assurance on complex, high-assurance or mission-critical systems
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and ISO 27001
