Role Description
This is a remote contract role for a Cyber Incident Manager. The Cyber Incident Manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of cyber incidents, including detection, triage, containment, eradication, and recovery. Daily activities include coordinating incident response efforts, documenting timelines and decisions, and communicating status and impact to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role involves working closely with security analysts, engineers, and leadership to refine playbooks, improve processes, and implement lessons learned from past incidents. The Cyber Incident Manager also contributes to proactive readiness activities such as tabletop exercises, incident simulations, and continuous improvement of incident response procedures.

- Incident management and response skills, including coordination of cyber events, root-cause analysis, and post-incident review.
- Technical cybersecurity knowledge in areas such as threat detection, network and endpoint security, and common attack techniques.
- Risk assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize actions under pressure and balance business impact with security needs.
- Communication and collaboration skills, including clear written reporting, stakeholder updates, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Experience working in or with security operations centers (SOCs) or incident response teams in a remote or distributed environment.
- Familiarity with incident response frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, or similar) and use of ticketing and case management tools.
- Relevant professional certifications (such as CISSP, CISM, GCIH, or equivalent experience) are beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple incidents or tasks concurrently, and maintain professionalism in high-stress situations.
