The Role

As the Cyber & Information Security Manager at United Learning you will play a key role in ensuring that our 100+ schools and central offices are able to avoid disruption to their operations and that the children being educated within the organisation can learn in a safe environment.

You will be working with the support of colleagues with legal and technical expertise and we consider attitude and willingness to learn to be the crucial success determinants. The ability to demonstrate experience in the field and to have achieved a recognised information security qualification are also essential.

The work of the Cyber & Information Security Manager will encompass both system improvement (doing things incrementally better through technical, policy and educational action) and the day-to-day support of colleagues centrally and in schools who are dealing with issues around information security.

About You

The successful candidate will be:

  • Confident and outgoing, with the social skills to manage difficult situations and to achieve outcomes by influencing others
  • Able to simplify complex processes with clarity for non-specialists
  • Knowledgeable about and interested in the issues and risks around information security and data protection
  • Possessed of a functional knowledge of cyber security risks, tools and practices
  • Able to think through risks and create proportionate security solutions
  • Willing and capable to acquire knowledge of the specific products in use at United Learning for the General Ledger, HR, schools’ MIS and Azure / Office365
  • Generally technically competent and fluent, unfazed by the complexity of technology
  • Committed to excellence and continuous improvement, constantly seeking ways in which systems and processes can be refined, sped up and made more effective
