Cyber Monitoring Advisor
Location: South Mimms, Hertfordshire, or Canary Wharf, London
Job Summary
We are currently looking for a Cyber Monitoring Advisor to join our Technology and Service Operations Function within the Digital and Technology Group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a fixed term contract basis until 31 August 2027. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU or South Mimms, Hertfordshire.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

Job Description
Role Purpose
The role exists to ensure that cyber security is maintained throughout the MHRA. The role requires a technically skilled Cyber Security Monitoring Advisor to join a team of cyber security staff to help shape and deliver the agency’s cyber security agenda.

The role sits in the Cyber Security Team within The Technology & Service Operations function within The Digital and Technology Group.
You will also be required to participate in on-call out of hours 24-hour security incident response rota on a periodic basis.
Key Responsibilities and Results Areas
- Monitor, triage and investigate security alerts on protective monitoring platforms to identify security incidents and perform analysis of security event data to support the response, reporting or escalating where appropriate.
- Design, develop and support automated monitoring processes, using a variety of the latest SIEM and network analysis tools.
- Engage with other cyber security teams across government such as NHS England Cyber Security Operations Team.
- Support the Cyber Security Monitoring Lead in their day-to-day role. Covering for them when needed.
- Responsible for management of several key cyber security mailboxes.
- Support implementation of the monitoring roadmap to enhance monitoring in line with requirements, policies and standards to govern all activities and outputs.
Person Specification
- Vulnerability Management: Experience of managing and resolving cyber security vulnerabilities.
- Communication between Technical and Non-technical: Experience of communicating complex technical information relating to cybersecurity to a non-technical audience. Able to advocate and communicate what a team does to create trust and authenticity.
- Qualifications: Cyber Security Level 4 certification or above and/or CISMP and/or Security + and/or CySA+ or similar qualifications.
- Hands-on experience: Experience with monitoring platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel SIEM, Microsoft XDR or a comparable monitoring platform (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Elastic SIEM).

Benefits
- Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays
