About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to join our client's dynamic team on a contract basis. This role is initially for six months with the possibility of extension, offering an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to contribute to critical security initiatives within a forward-thinking organization. The position is hybrid, requiring two days on-site each week, with potential for increased on-site presence during the initial onboarding phase. The role falls inside IR35, emphasizing the importance of compliance and proper engagement through an umbrella company or deemed company arrangement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in cybersecurity, with a strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Akamai Web Application and API Protection (WAAP), including WAF policy tuning, API security controls, application onboarding, and security profile management.
- Deep knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and OWASP API Security Top 10, with the ability to implement mitigation techniques at the application layer.
- Solid understanding of HTTP/S protocols, REST APIs, and related security considerations.
- Experience in vulnerability management tools such as Qualys, along with external attack surface monitoring.
- Ability to oversee and manage internal and external technology projects from inception through to successful deployment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or equivalent are preferred.

Responsibilities
The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for a range of security-related activities, including but not limited to:
- Monitoring and analyzing security alerts to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Managing and tuning Akamai WAAP policies to ensure optimal protection against application-layer threats.
- Implementing and maintaining API security controls to safeguard sensitive data and services.
- Onboarding new applications onto security platforms, ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Conducting vulnerability assessments and managing remediation efforts using tools like Qualys.
- Monitoring external attack surface and providing insights to reduce exposure.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement security strategies and solutions.
- Participating in incident response activities and supporting forensic investigations when necessary.
- Keeping abreast of emerging security threats and industry best practices to continuously improve security posture.
