About The Role

We are seeking experienced Cyber Security Analysts to join our esteemed banking client on a contract basis. This hybrid role is pivotal in safeguarding the financial institution's complex environment against evolving cyber threats. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, investigating, and responding to security alerts, leveraging advanced tools such as Splunk to analyze logs and identify malicious activities. In this capacity, you will play a critical role in enhancing the organization's threat detection capabilities, supporting incident response efforts, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated banking environment, contributing to the protection of sensitive customer data and maintaining the integrity of critical business operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in cyber threat detection and incident response within a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with Splunk, including dashboard creation, alerting, reporting, and query development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret web, application, and security logs to identify malicious activities.
  • Solid understanding of common cyber threats, such as web application attacks and network-based threats.
  • Experience working across Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, regular expressions, and network protocols.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to emerging threats.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or CompTIA Security+ are preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate, and respond promptly to security alerts and suspicious activities across the banking environment.
  • Utilize Splunk to analyze logs, develop detection rules, and support security incident investigations.
  • Create and maintain effective security monitoring controls, alerts, and dashboards to enhance threat detection capabilities.
  • Research emerging cyber threats and recommend proactive mitigation strategies to prevent potential attacks.
  • Investigate active security incidents, coordinate incident response efforts, and document findings thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to communicate security issues and provide guidance on remediation measures.
  • Support audit, compliance, and risk management initiatives within the regulated banking sector, ensuring adherence to industry standards and policies.
  • Participate in regular security assessments and contribute to continuous improvement of security posture.
