Cyber Security Architect – Threat Modelling (Contract)
Location: UK-based, with travel to Bristol, Manchester, North West England and London for on-site work
Working Pattern: Hybrid with travel to client sites as required
Type: Contract
Rate: Up to £700 per day, Outside IR35
Clearance: UK National with active SC Clearance — this is a mandatory requirement

Tektora are supporting an established Technology Consultancy who are looking to speak with SC Cleared Cyber Security Architects for a contract opportunity leading threat modelling and secure design across complex client environments.
Please note: active SC Clearance is essential for this role. Applications cannot be considered without it.
This role would suit an experienced security architect who runs threat modelling as a discipline rather than an occasional task, is comfortable acting as the design authority on complex systems, and is looking for a well-defined outside IR35 engagement where the threat modelling work is the centre of the role rather than a sideline.
The Role
You Will Be Involved In
- Leading threat modelling across complex systems, cloud platforms and enterprise architectures
- Facilitating threat modelling workshops with architects, engineers and business stakeholders
- Performing system decomposition, trust boundary analysis and attack path identification
- Acting as design authority on secure solution designs and architecture reviews
- Producing reference architectures, secure design patterns and reusable threat models
- Conducting security risk assessments and setting proportionate, risk-based mitigations
- Translating threat models into security monitoring requirements and detection use cases
- Reviewing and assuring designs produced by other architects and delivery teams
- Supporting and upskilling internal teams so threat modelling continues after the engagement
- Presenting findings, risks and design decisions to technical and senior stakeholders

Key Experience Required
- UK National with active SC Clearance
- Proven experience leading threat modelling for complex systems, cloud environments or enterprise architectures
- Hands-on application of a recognised methodology such as STRIDE, PASTA, attack trees or MITRE ATT&CK
- Strong security architecture background covering secure design, architecture review and system decomposition
- Experience operating as a design authority or senior technical escalation point on security designs
- Demonstrable experience conducting security risk assessments and producing risk-based recommendations
- Experience defining security monitoring requirements and detection use cases from threat models
- Exposure to SIEM tooling — Splunk preferred, though Sentinel, Elastic Security, CrowdStrike or similar are acceptable
- Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Comfortable travelling to Bristol, Manchester, the North West and London when required

Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering security architecture within UK Government, defence or other highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with Secure by Design, government security principles and recognised risk management frameworks
- Experience with threat modelling tooling such as the Microsoft Threat Modelling Tool, IriusRisk or ThreatModeler
- Experience working alongside Security Operations Centres and detection engineering teams
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, SABSA, TOGAF, CCP SIRA or CREST, although practical experience is valued more highly
- Previous experience delivering through a limited company on an outside IR35 basis
