Job Description
Role Purpose
The Security Architect is a hands-on technical practitioner responsible for designing, building, and validating security solutions, conducting technical threat modelling, executing risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance across Motorola Solutions UK (MSI UK) platforms and regional customer environments.
Operating within the Cyber Security Solutions organisation, the post-holder acts as a primary engineering engine to design and build bespoke security solutions and custom tooling—leveraging an approved enterprise AI toolset to drive delivery speed and operational efficiency. The role performs core security architecture functions, including control mapping, technical documentation, and pre-sales bid support.
Focus allocation spans four primary delivery streams:
- Bespoke Security Solution Design & AI Build (40%)
- Technical Threat Modelling & Risk Assessments (30%)
- Regulatory Compliance & Control Verification (20%)
- Pre-Sales Support (10%)
Principal Accountabilities & Duties
Bespoke Security Solution Design & AI Build (40%)
- Lead the hands-on design, build, and technical integration of bespoke security solutions to address emerging customer and operational requirements.
- Engineer and test custom security tools and automated workflows, leveraging an approved enterprise AI toolset to accelerate technical delivery.
- Build and maintain sandbox lab environments to validate hardware and software security integrations, perimeters, and data flows prior to operational release.

Technical Threat Modelling & Risk Assessments (30%)
- Perform detailed technical threat modelling (using STRIDE methodologies) and vulnerability analysis across application architectures, enterprise software, and network perimeters.
- Author comprehensive, audit-ready technical risk assessments for new security solutions and project designs.
- Evaluate penetration test findings, log technical non-conformities, and engineer verified technical remediations.
Regulatory Compliance & Control Verification (20%)
- Map system configurations and technical designs directly against security control baselines, including ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-171/53, and the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
- Verify technical enforcement of core controls, including encryption standards (AES-256, TLS 1.3), Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and audit logging.
- Adopt and utilise internal AI security tools to streamline daily architectural verification and compliance checking workflows.
Pre-Sales Support (10%)
- Provide deep technical evidence, security architecture diagrams, and questionnaire responses for customer security tenders.
- Support customer security evaluations and internal compliance reviews by providing verified evidence repositories and architectural baseline documentation.
Basic Requirements
Essential (Day-1 Baseline Requirements)
- Experience: Minimum 4+ years of hands-on security architecture, technical security engineering, or systems integration experience within a complex technical environment.
- Hands-on Tooling & AI Ability: Proven ability to design and build custom technical solutions; strong practical interest and capability in using approved AI tools to build automation and custom security capabilities.
- Threat Modelling & Risk Assessment: Practical experience executing formal threat modelling (STRIDE), drafting technical risk assessments, and managing remediation lifecycles.
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for task automation, integration, and custom tool engineering.
- Security Clearance: Active UK Security Clearance (SC) or meeting all UK residency criteria for immediate SC sponsorship.

Desirable (Trainable / On-the-Job Expansion)
- Familiarity with mission-critical communication networks (TETRA, Land Mobile Radio, ESN) or public safety IT environments.
- Practical knowledge of statutory regulations, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) hardware and software security lifecycle requirements.
- Relevant professional certifications.
