Taskr Penetration Testing Opportunity
Taskr is working to grow a penetration testing capability within a Government environment. As part of this expansion, we are looking for an experienced Senior Penetration Tester or Cyber Security Consultant who can combine strong hands-on technical capability with leadership, mentoring and strategic input.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating across a broad technical landscape, with experience assessing modern cloud environments alongside traditional infrastructure, networks and applications.
The role will be offered as a remote, outside IR35 contract.
The Role
You will take ownership of penetration testing and security assessment activities across a range of environments and technologies. This will include planning and delivering engagements, identifying weaknesses, validating vulnerabilities and communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute beyond individual engagements. Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning, scoping and leading penetration testing assignments from initial engagement through to final reporting.
- Conducting security testing across cloud platforms, applications, networks, infrastructure and associated services.
- Assessing the security of environments hosted within Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Performing web application and infrastructure penetration testing, identifying vulnerabilities and demonstrating their potential impact.
- Assessing modern containerised and automated environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Evaluating security considerations within CI/CD pipelines and DevOps environments.
- Reviewing technical architectures and identifying weaknesses or opportunities to improve an organisation's overall security posture.
- Producing high-quality technical reports, clearly documenting vulnerabilities, evidence, risk and appropriate remediation recommendations.
- Presenting findings to stakeholders and adapting technical explanations to suit different audiences.
- Supporting the development of junior and mid-level penetration testers through coaching, knowledge sharing and day-to-day technical guidance.
- Running technical workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions and team development activities.
- Contributing to the wider security function and helping shape the future direction of the penetration testing capability.
- Keeping current with emerging attack techniques, cloud technologies, tooling and changes in the wider threat landscape.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
