Job Description
Role: Cyber Security Consultant
Rate: Inside IR35
Location: 2 days on site (Preston, London or Birmingham)
Contract: 3 month with possibility of extension
Clearance: SC Clearance must be active
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Consultant to play a pivotal role within our Operational Integrator (OI) function, supporting a major transition to a multi-supplier (SIAM) model for our Central Government Client.
You will be responsible for understanding, aligning, and governing existing high-severity security incident management and vulnerability management processes across suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance and Process Alignment: Lead the review, standardisation, and governance of multi-supplier processes for high-severity incidents (S3/S4) and vulnerabilities. Establish severity thresholds, exception workflows, and prioritisation frameworks (e.g., CVSS, KEV, EPSS).
- Supplier Coordination (SIAM): Act as the core integration point across multiple suppliers, resolving process maturity gaps and driving consistent outputs without redesigning underlying operational models.
- Incident Management Governance: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of S3/S4 incidents, ensuring suppliers meet escalation, communication, and reporting expectations while defining the required visibility over SOC outputs.
- Vulnerability Lifecycle Governance: Track vulnerabilities from identification through to remediation or formal risk acceptance. Monitor SLA adherence, asset coverage gaps, and non-patchable legacy systems.
- Evidence and Audit Assurance: Define and align audit-ready evidence requirements across both domains, ensuring all outputs are traceable to risks and controls in line with ISMS standards.
- Transition Support and Reporting: Deliver clear, evidence-based reporting to governance forums and establish a solid baseline for a seamless handover to BAU.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
