Cyber Security Consultant– London – Hybrid – Permanent
37.5 hours per week – £46,000 - £77,000 (multiple levels available) – SC or DV Clearance

Our client is looking for a Cyber Security Manager to join their Defence and Security consultancy team in London. You'll act as a trusted advisor to some of the UK's most sensitive and high-profile defence and security programmes.

Working Patterns and location
- Hybrid – 3 days on site per week
The Key Responsibilities of a Cyber Security Consultant:
- Manage and deliver client-facing cyber security engagements across Defence and Security, developing strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Assess clients’ cyber security environments through security reviews, vulnerability assessments, architectural analysis and risk assessments.
- Use recognised security standards and frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS and CAF to assess security maturity and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop proportionate and commercially viable security solutions that consider people, processes and technology.
- Produce cyber security strategies and structured roadmaps that clearly identify priorities and recommended actions.
- Help clients establish and improve incident response plans, resilience measures and business continuity arrangements.
- Facilitate workshops, briefings and presentations for a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide subject matter expertise across security controls, secure architectures, cyber risks and evolving threats.

Key Skills required for a Cyber Security Consultant:
- Previous experience within cyber security or information security, ideally within Defence, Government or another secure environment.
- Good understanding of established cyber security frameworks and standards, including ISO 27001, NIST, CIS and CAF.
- Defensive Cyber Operations experience, with expertise in one or more areas such as Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Management or SIEM.
- Experience supporting Government organisations and operating in environments governed by the Government Security Classification Policy.
- Strong knowledge of core security concepts including network security, encryption, identity and authentication, and access management.
- Practical experience with security tooling and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms and vulnerability scanning or assessment tools.
- Experience identifying, assessing and modelling cyber threats and security risks within complex organisations or technical environments.
- Awareness of UK Government and Defence cyber security requirements, including JSP 440, JSP 441, JSP 490 and Secure by Design principles.
The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
- Professional cyber or information security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or GSEC.
- Understanding of cloud security and experience securing environments across AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Exposure to different Defence domains, such as Land, Air, Maritime, Space or Cyberspace.
- Experience assessing new and emerging technologies to understand potential cyber security threats and risks.
- Knowledge of supply chain security, third-party risk or Security Risk Management within Defence or similarly regulated environments.
