Cyber Security Consultant
You’ll split your time between penetration testing and Cyber Essentials work: advising clients on the standard, carrying out Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments, and delivering infrastructure and web application tests. It’s a consultant role in the Cyber Security team of a UK managed IT services provider, reporting to a Senior Cyber Security Consultant.
Salary: £45,000 to £54,000
Location: Remote (UK), with occasional client site visits
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
What you’ll do
- Advise clients on the Cyber Essentials standard and help them scope their assessments
- Carry out Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments
- Deliver infrastructure and web application penetration tests, plus vulnerability assessments
- Explain findings to clients and give practical remediation advice
- Support pre and post sales conversations where needed
- Share your knowledge with the wider team and help train colleagues

What you’ll need
Essential:
- At least 3 years’ experience in IT or Cyber Security
- Experience delivering infrastructure penetration tests or Cyber Essentials Plus assessments
- OSCP, CREST CRT, Cyber Scheme CSTM, VA+ or an equivalent certification
- Good working knowledge of Windows, Linux, Active Directory and common networking protocols and devices
- Clear written and verbal communication, from senior decision makers to end users
- A full UK driving licence for occasional client site visits

Nice to have:
- Certified Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus Assessor
- Phishing and social engineering assessment experience
- Experience with Qualys, Nessus or similar vulnerability scanners
- Familiarity with Hyper-V or VMware, and the OWASP Top 10
