Position Description
At CGI, you'll help organisations protect critical systems, embed Secure by Design principles and strengthen resilience against an evolving cyber threat landscape. As a Cyber Security Consultant, you'll take ownership of meaningful security challenges, bringing fresh thinking to projects that support government, defence and other critical sectors.
Working alongside an established community of cyber experts, you'll assess risk across business, technology and operations, embedding security throughout the solution lifecycle rather than treating it as an afterthought. You'll help clients translate complex challenges into practical, proportionate solutions, with the freedom to contribute ideas and shape outcomes while being supported by collaborative teams, shared expertise and opportunities to develop your career within one of the UK's largest cyber consultancies.
CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK 'Best Employer' by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you'll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We'll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.
Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. Location and working pattern: This role requires you to work on the client site in Basingstoke five days per week.
Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will work within CGI's 280+ strong security community, delivering security services that protect critical client operations. You'll take ownership of complex cyber security challenges, assess risk across business, technology and operations, and apply Secure by Design principles throughout the lifecycle of systems and services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
