Salary: £65,000 - 75,000

I’m currently recruiting for a Security Consultant to join a specialist consulting team delivering security and technology transformation programmes across the UK. This is a client-facing role covering public-sector, defence, central-government and wider regulated environments. You’ll work on complex security challenges, helping organisations understand their risks and build secure, practical solutions that work in the real world.
The role
You’ll be involved across the full security consulting lifecycle, from understanding the client’s requirements and identifying risks through to shaping architectures and recommending appropriate controls.
The work will include:
- Designing secure architectures for complex IT and digital transformation programmes.
- Reviewing existing designs and identifying vulnerabilities, weaknesses and areas of risk.
- Advising clients and internal stakeholders on appropriate security controls and mitigations.
- Translating technical security issues into clear business and risk language.
- Supporting clients with security, compliance and assurance requirements.
- Applying recognised standards and frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR and PCI-DSS.
- Developing threat models and security reference architectures.
- Working with technologies including identity and access management, privileged access management, SSO, network security and encryption.
- Supporting cloud and network-security engagements.
- Researching new and emerging technologies to solve challenging security problems.
- Working with architects, engineers, programme teams and senior client stakeholders.
- Contributing to the improvement of security across UK public-sector and national-infrastructure environments.

You’ll need to be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, from technical teams through to senior decision-makers. The ability to explain complex security matters clearly and influence design decisions will be just as important as your technical knowledge.
What they’re looking for
You’ll ideally have experience in a security consulting, security architecture, technical assurance or related cybersecurity role.
The key requirements are:
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and risk management.
- Experience applying security controls to technical architectures and solution designs.
- A good understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies and design methodologies.
- Experience with threat modelling and the development of security architectures.
- Practical knowledge of areas such as IAM, PAM, SSO, network security or encryption.
- The ability to assess vulnerabilities and explain their potential business impact.
- Experience working with clients, delivery teams and wider stakeholders.
- A willingness to learn quickly and adapt to different technical and business environments.
- Experience of network or cloud security would be particularly useful.
- CISSP, SABSA or a similar certification would be advantageous.

Applicants must be able to obtain DV clearance, including the required ten year continuous UK address history. Full British nationality is also required for this particular assignment.
