Summary

What To Expect

The role in question is pivotal for enhancing the security framework of the Post Office. The individual appointed will spearhead the development and implementation of advanced security capabilities, thereby fortifying the organisation's defence mechanisms against cyber threats.

This role is not just about managing current systems but also about proactive evolution staying ahead of potential risks by aligning with the strategic objectives of the Cyber Operations team.

Collaboration with Incident Response teams and Threat and Vulnerability experts is crucial, ensuring that security measures are not only reactive but also preventative. By serving as a critical escalation point for cybersecurity engineers, this role facilitates a robust, responsive, and adaptive security posture, ready to tackle the dynamic challenges of cyber security in today's digital landscape.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

To be successful in this role you will be need to be well versed in:

  • A broad range of technology experience including Cloud Security (Azure, 365 E5 suite, AWS), Internet Protection, Vulnerability Management, SIEM, Firewalls, CASB, WAF and EDR products.
  • Experience in managing, supporting, and improving enterprise security solutions with a strong understanding of the impact of these changes.
  • An understanding of network infrastructure such as VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers, LANs, Intrusion Detection, vulnerability scanning etc.
  • Understanding of Attack lifecycle of modern cyber threats.
  • Understanding and being able to articulate emerging threats and incidents to different audiences, including technical, operations management, senior management and executives.
  • Excellent self-motivation skills.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Ability to share knowledge with the wider Cyber Security Engineering team.
  • A keen interest in cyber security with enthusiasm for staying up to date with the latest trends.

Experience Required

  • At least 5 years’ experience in SecOps or IT Security
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of SIEM; including incident response, log analysis, log ingestion and event data sources.
  • Expertise and experience in security operational services for example; unified threat management, IAM, DDOS, threat and vulnerability management, DLP, and cyber investigations.
  • Proven experience or demonstrate working knowledge of SIEM tooling
  • Experience commissioning data pipeline or SIEM infrastructure
  • Experience with SIEM Query Language (KQL, SPL)
  • Experience working with PowerShell or Python scripting.
  • Worked with or an understanding of EDR systems such as Defender or Trend
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers and vendors.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security controls and security best practices for Windows, Linux, and Mac systems or similar
