OT Cyber Security Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Newcastle, Hybrid
Duration: 6 Months
Rate: Quotes

We are seeking an experienced OT Cyber Security Infrastructure Engineer to support the design, implementation, hardening, and maintenance of critical Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments.
This role will play a key part in securing and supporting complex OT infrastructure, ensuring systems remain resilient, compliant, and aligned with cyber security best practice. The successful candidate will combine strong infrastructure engineering expertise with a deep understanding of OT cyber security, supporting both operational requirements and strategic security initiatives.
Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you will provide specialist expertise across OT platforms, virtualisation technologies, networking, cyber security tooling, and infrastructure hardening activities while supporting the ongoing development of secure operational environments.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in both IT and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure engineering, with experience supporting critical industrial environments.
- Proven expertise working within SCADA and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments.
- Hands-on experience deploying, configuring and supporting cyber security technologies across OT estates.
- Demonstrable experience securing and hardening OT infrastructure, servers and critical operational systems.
- Strong Linux administration skills, including physical server builds, virtual server deployment, system configuration and ongoing support.
- Experience with virtualisation platforms and infrastructure technologies, including Dell VxRail and VMware ESXi.
- Proven experience implementing and supporting Fortinet security products, including firewalls and associated security solutions.
- Experience with one or more of the following technologies:
- Privileged Access Management (PAM)
- Carbon Black App Control
- McAfee/Trellix ePO
- Tenable Vulnerability Management
- Nessus Scanners and Nessus Manager
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
- On-premise Certificate Authority (CA) implementation and administration
- Strong understanding of OT and industrial cyber security principles, standards and best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into practical business and engineering outcomes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working within complex, highly regulated or governed programmes and environments.
- Ability to mentor engineers, share technical knowledge and support capability development within technical teams.
- Strong documentation, reporting and technical writing skills.
