About The Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our client's dynamic IT team. This role is pivotal in strengthening the organization's security posture by leading day-to-day cyber protection efforts across systems, networks, and cloud environments. The successful candidate will act as the internal subject matter expert (SME) in cyber security, working closely with internal teams and external partners to implement, monitor, and improve security measures. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape security strategies, respond to emerging threats, and contribute to the organization’s resilience in a rapidly evolving cyber landscape.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid technical foundation in cyber security, infrastructure, or networking, with relevant experience in a similar role. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is advantageous, along with professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+. Candidates with strong hands-on experience in Microsoft-centric environments—such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, and security baselines—are highly preferred. Knowledge of compliance frameworks like Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR is essential. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels are critical, as is the capacity to manage operational workloads while driving ongoing security improvements. Applicants currently engaged in infrastructure roles that include cyber security responsibilities and seeking to specialize further are encouraged to apply.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
