About The Company

Nigel Wright Group is a reputable recruitment consultancy specializing in providing tailored staffing solutions across various sectors. With a strong presence in the North East, the company is committed to connecting talented professionals with leading organizations. Known for its professionalism, integrity, and dedication to client and candidate satisfaction, Nigel Wright Group has built a reputation for delivering high-quality recruitment services that align with strategic business goals.

About The Role

An established organization in the North East is seeking a proactive, hands-on Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen its security posture and lead day-to-day cyber protection across its systems, networks, and cloud environment. As the organization's internal cyber security subject matter expert, you will have the opportunity to influence security improvements and enhance overall resilience, working closely with colleagues across IT and the wider business functions.

This role is predominantly site-based, requiring candidates to reside within a commutable distance of the office. The organization is unable to sponsor visas; therefore, applicants must have the right to work permanently in the UK. The successful candidate will join a close-knit IT team, playing a vital role in safeguarding the company's infrastructure while supporting operational IT activities. This includes responding to service desk tickets, assisting users, and maintaining the health of Microsoft 365, Azure, infrastructure, and hybrid environments. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated cybersecurity professional to develop their expertise within a dynamic environment, contributing to both security and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess a solid technical foundation in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or networking, with relevant experience in Microsoft-centric environments.
  • While a degree or cybersecurity certification is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
  • Candidates currently engaged in broad infrastructure roles with cybersecurity responsibilities are encouraged to apply.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
