Cyber Engineer – Security Cleared
Location: Corsham – Hybrid working at MOD Corsham
Salary: £55,000–£70,000 depending on experience and qualifications + excellent company benefits + yearly TAX FREE bonus
Security Clearance:
- You must currently hold SC Clearance and be eligible to undergo DV Clearance
About the Role:
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must meet the relevant nationality and security requirements for working within a secure UK Defence environment.
NexGen Associates are working in partnership with a well-established IT Consultancy delivering critical services across the UK Government and Defence sectors.
Our client is looking for experienced Cyber Engineers with a strong Network Engineering background to join their growing technical team supporting secure MOD environments.
This is not a traditional SOC Analyst role. We are looking for technically strong Network Engineers who also have cyber security experience, knowledge or relevant cyber qualifications and understand how to build, maintain and secure complex network environments.
You will work across networking and cyber security, helping to ensure infrastructure is secure, resilient and appropriately protected within highly regulated Defence environments.
The role could be particularly suitable for an experienced Network Engineer who has developed additional cyber security responsibilities and is now looking to progress further into Cyber Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, maintain and support secure network infrastructure within Defence environments.
- Configure and administer LAN/WAN environments, switches, routers and associated network infrastructure.
- Apply cyber security principles and controls across network infrastructure.
- Support the secure configuration and hardening of network devices and systems.
- Identify network and infrastructure vulnerabilities and support appropriate remediation.
- Troubleshoot network, connectivity and security-related issues.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of network security controls.
- Work with firewalls and other network security technologies.
- Assist with cyber security assessments and technical assurance activities.
- Work closely with Network Architects, Security Architects and other technical specialists to deliver secure solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Work with MOD and UK Government stakeholders to ensure solutions meet technical, operational and security requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of network and cyber security across secure environments.

Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in Network Engineering combined with cyber security knowledge, experience or qualifications.
You should have experience across a number of the following:
- Cisco Networks
- LAN/WAN networking
- Switch and router configuration and administration
- Network infrastructure and hardware deployment
- TCP/IP and network protocols
- Firewalls and network security
- Network troubleshooting
- Secure network environments
- Network security and hardening
- Cyber security principles and controls
- Infrastructure security
- Vulnerability identification and remediation
- Security monitoring and technical assurance
- Cloud technologies such as AWS
- Working within secure or highly regulated environments

A CCNA or equivalent level of networking knowledge would be advantageous. Relevant cyber security qualifications or certifications would also be highly desirable.
We are equally interested in candidates who have gained strong cyber security knowledge through practical experience within Defence environments.
Candidates from UK Armed Forces networking, CIS, communications and cyber backgrounds are also strongly encouraged to apply.
