Cyber Security Engineer

A large global organisation is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to help develop, implement and maintain security controls across its global technology environment. The role will focus on strengthening the security of infrastructure, cloud platforms and applications while supporting the delivery of key security projects.

This will be an initial 6-months+ contract with extensions available.

The position can be worked on a hybrid basis, 2 days per week on-site in London required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain security controls across infrastructure, cloud and application environments.
  • Configure and optimise security technologies, including endpoint protection, firewalls and vulnerability management tools.
  • Assess vulnerabilities and security risks, working with technology teams to prioritise and deliver remediation.
  • Support system hardening, secure configuration and security reviews of new and existing services.
  • Develop scripts and automation to improve security processes and control effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support during security incidents and contribute to improvements following investigations.
  • Maintain technical documentation and support audit and compliance activities.

Required skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in cyber security engineering or a similar technical security role.
  • Strong understanding of network security, Windows/Linux environments and cloud security.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing security tools and controls.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, system hardening and secure design principles.
  • Scripting or automation experience, such as Python or PowerShell, would be beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience in banking, financial services or another regulated environment is preferred.
