Senior Cyber Security Engineer | Contract | London (Hybrid)
My client is a leading HealthTech organisation, trusted by clinicians, patients and healthcare providers across the UK and international markets. The business is growing quickly, investing heavily in secure, scalable technology, and is committed to protecting the sensitive health data that sits at the heart of its platform.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join an expanding security team on a contract basis. You'll play a key role in strengthening the organisation's security posture across cloud and on-premises environments, with cloud as the focus.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex security challenges, works well with engineering and product teams, and wants to make a tangible impact on protecting patient data and critical healthcare systems.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and support a range of security projects, ensuring secure and timely delivery
- Implement, configure and optimise security tooling including EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, IAM and cloud security platforms
- Strengthen cloud security posture across [Azure / AWS], including hardening, monitoring and policy-as-code
- Partner with engineering, DevOps, clinical safety and third-party teams to embed security by design
- Run risk assessments, vulnerability scans and threat modelling for new products and features
- Monitor emerging threats, zero-day vulnerabilities and new CVEs, and assess their impact on the business
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, performing root cause analysis and recommending improvements
- Support compliance and assurance activity against healthcare and industry standards
- Provide security guidance on new technologies, integrations and strategic initiatives
- Mentor colleagues and help raise security awareness across the business

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer or in a similar senior technical security role
- Strong understanding of network, infrastructure, cloud and application security principles
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing cloud security tools and IAM solutions
- Practical experience with EDR, SIEM and vulnerability management platforms
- Experience in risk assessment, incident response and vulnerability management
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, NIST and CIS, plus exposure to healthcare standards such as NHS DSPT, DTAC or HIPAA (desirable)
- Understanding of GDPR and the handling of sensitive or patient data
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, AZ-500 or AWS Security Specialty would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security issues to non-technical audiences
- Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
