About The Role
We are partnering with a highly successful investment management firm seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join a small, high-impact security team based in London. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic hedge fund environment where security is regarded as a strategic enabler rather than merely a compliance requirement. The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding critical trading, research, and corporate technology environments, contributing directly to the firm's security posture across infrastructure, cloud, applications, endpoints, and software engineering domains.
This position provides significant breadth, ownership, and visibility, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys tackling complex security challenges across multiple technology landscapes. You will collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, and investment technology teams to embed security best practices into the organization’s operational fabric, ensuring resilience and robustness against evolving cyber threats.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, practical experience, and a proactive security mindset. Essential qualifications include demonstrable hands-on experience securing Windows and Linux environments, knowledge of endpoint security technologies such as EDR/XDR platforms, and familiarity with cloud security principles, especially within Azure. Candidates should have experience with application security testing, secure development practices, and vulnerability management frameworks. Strong scripting or automation skills using languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash are required. Industry-recognized security certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, OSCP, GIAC, or Azure security certifications are highly desirable.

Additional advantageous qualifications include experience within financial services, hedge funds, or trading environments, knowledge of container and Kubernetes security, and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code security. A solid understanding of authentication, identity management, network security, and encryption technologies will be beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Protect and secure Windows and Linux environments across corporate and production infrastructure, ensuring high availability and resilience.
- Enhance endpoint security controls, including monitoring, detection, and incident response capabilities, to swiftly identify and mitigate threats.
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud security controls within Azure and other cloud platforms, aligning with best practices and compliance standards.
- Partner with software engineers to embed security throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), promoting secure coding standards.
- Drive application security initiatives such as secure code reviews, threat modelling, and vulnerability remediation to reduce attack surfaces.
- Build and optimize DevSecOps capabilities within CI/CD pipelines, automating security checks and compliance measures.
- Lead vulnerability management activities, including scanning, prioritization, risk assessment, and tracking remediation efforts.
- Support incident response investigations, providing expertise to analyze security breaches and implement corrective actions.
- Develop security automation tools and scripts to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual efforts, and enhance security posture.
- Contribute to security architecture reviews, technology assessments, and the development of security policies and standards.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, quant, and investment technology teams to ensure security is integrated into all critical systems and processes.
