Cyber Security Trainer (SC Cleared)
Location: Remote with occasional on-site training delivery in Shrivenham
Contract: Initial 6 months
Rate: £550 per day
IR35: Inside IR35
We are supporting a major expansion of the Defence Cyber Training Services programme following a significant multi-year contract renewal. As part of this growth, we are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Trainer to deliver high-quality, technically robust cyber security training to defence learners.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cyber security professional who enjoys sharing their knowledge, translating complex technical concepts into engaging learning experiences, and helping develop the next generation of defence cyber capability.
Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery & Subject Matter Expertise
- Deliver engaging cyber security and incident response training to learners with varying levels of experience.
- Translate real-world cyber operations, threat analysis, and incident response into practical, easy-to-understand training.
- Act as the in-house Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing up-to-date guidance on cyber operations and emerging threats.
- Ensure all training aligns with MOD standards and industry best practices.

Training Design & Development
- Develop tailored cyber security training content using specialist tools, environments, and threat profiles.
- Produce engaging learning materials, including presentations, workbooks, practical labs, and simulations.
- Design realistic, scenario-based exercises that reflect operational cyber incidents.
- Support the creation of assessments and practical tasks to evaluate learner competency.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Active SC Clearance (essential).
- Strong hands-on knowledge of:
- Cyber threats
- Network security
- Risk management
- Compliance frameworks
- Extensive experience with:
- Incident response
- Threat detection
- Investigation techniques
- Security tooling
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a range of audiences.
- Experience designing and/or delivering cyber security exercises, simulations, or practical labs.
- Ability to translate operational cyber knowledge into structured, engaging learning content.
- Experience using Elastic or similar monitoring and analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with defence learning frameworks, including DSAT and JSP 822.
