Cyber Security Intern

Location: United Kingdom – Remote

About the Opportunity

We are hiring a Cyber Security Intern on behalf of one of our clients. This opportunity is designed for students, recent graduates, and aspiring Cyber Security professionals who want to develop their technical knowledge and gain practical exposure to real-world security projects.

The selected candidate will work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, risk management, network security, incident response, security testing, and cybersecurity best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring security events, alerts, and potential threats.
  • Support vulnerability assessments and security testing of systems and applications.
  • Assist in identifying, analyzing, and documenting potential security risks.
  • Perform basic security assessments of networks, applications, and systems.
  • Support incident investigation and documentation under the guidance of security professionals.
  • Assist with security log analysis and identifying suspicious activities.
  • Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
  • Assist in maintaining security documentation, reports, and incident records.
  • Support implementation of security controls and best practices.
  • Assist with access control, authentication, and security configuration reviews.
  • Participate in security awareness and compliance-related activities.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation and follow-up activities.
  • Work with security tools and technologies used for monitoring and assessment.
  • Collaborate with IT, Network, Software, and Security teams.
  • Document findings and communicate security observations clearly.
  • Stay informed about developments in Cyber Security, Cloud Security, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging cyber threats.

Knowledge of Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Kali Linux, cloud security platforms, or security frameworks will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Security, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts.
  • Basic understanding of networking and TCP/IP.
  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux or Windows.
  • Basic understanding of common cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with security tools or security testing concepts is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic or personal projects involving Cyber Security or Information Security.
  • Experience using cybersecurity labs or learning platforms.
  • Familiarity with Linux and networking tools.
  • Exposure to vulnerability assessment or penetration testing concepts.
  • Knowledge of SIEM and security monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of security frameworks and best practices.
  • Exposure to cloud security or application security.
  • Participation in cybersecurity competitions, CTFs, hackathons, or technical communities.
  • A portfolio, GitHub repository, lab work, or security project demonstrating practical skills is an advantage.
