Role overview

As Security Lead you will join as Kato’s first dedicated security hire, owning security across our product and corporate estate. You'll bring a balance of hands-on technical capability, experience applying security best practices in product-led scale-ups, and the pragmatism to build the right-sized solutions our stage demands. You'll design and lead on security initiatives with the ambition and potential to grow a team around you as Kato scales.

Responsibilities & expectations

  • Responsible for performance of security health indicators.
  • Expected to execute our business aligned security strategy.
  • Responsible for embedding security throughout the SDLC - from threat modelling and design review contributions to applying security tooling to CI/CD pipelines.
  • Responsible for our protective and detective controls across endpoint, identity, network and data security, collaborating closely with Data, Infrastructure and People teams.
  • Responsible for risk-based vulnerability management - prioritising and driving remediation with the engineering team.
  • Expected to coach across departments on security - from pairing with engineers on secure development best practices to evangelising security awareness across the business.
  • Expected to execute on our ISO 27001 plan - scoping, controls, evidence and auditor liaison - owning a successful certification outcome.
  • Expected to automate security workflows and compliance evidence wherever possible, assessing GRC platform requirements to support this.
  • Responsible for leading and continuously improving our security incident response process.
  • Expected to embrace AI assistance throughout your workflow, staying current with developments and experimenting with new technologies as they become available.
