About the Company

Our client, an international insurance organisation, is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Lead to join its European cyber security team.

About the Role

The role will lead operational delivery and advisory activity across cyber and information security services. The successful candidate will help strengthen organisational resilience, improve how cyber risk is identified and managed, and support transformational change across business programmes and projects. This is a senior and influential position requiring deep technical expertise, strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate complex security risks into practical solutions that support strategic business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective cyber and information security capabilities across the organisation.
  • Partner with business teams to identify risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Improve cyber security awareness and encourage proactive identification and reporting of issues.
  • Build collaborative relationships and provide expert advice on complex security matters.
  • Identify security weaknesses and oversee remediation through to secure resolution.
  • Investigate root causes and develop practical, sustainable risk-reduction measures.
  • Lead engagement with senior stakeholders on cyber threats, vulnerabilities and incidents.
  • Develop and negotiate security solutions and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Promote agile and responsive approaches to cyber risk management.
  • Develop, implement and assure cyber security policies, standards, processes and templates.
  • Manage and quality-assure outsourced security services and supplier arrangements.
  • Monitor service-level agreements, quality controls and compliance with organisational requirements.
  • Strengthen collaboration across business and technology teams.
  • Track compliance, security improvements and risk mitigation outcomes.
  • Support the development of cyber security services, technical capability and internal talent.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in a senior cyber or information security role.
  • Deep technical knowledge and the ability to apply it within a complex business environment.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: identity and access management, data security, threat and vulnerability management, third-party risk, cyber security infrastructure or cyber security operations.
  • Strong understanding of how people, processes and technology may be exploited by threat actors.
  • Experience identifying security weaknesses and managing remediation through to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused approach.
  • Ability to make effective decisions when responding to complex, business-critical threats.
  • Experience developing cyber security services, standards, controls and internal capability.
  • Strong supplier management and service assurance experience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict-management skills.
  • Ability to present complex risks and technical issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaborative working skills.
  • Resilience and sound judgement when managing cyber threats in a continuously operating environment.
  • A curious, analytical and adaptable approach to emerging security risks.
