Cyber Security Manager, Defence
This role is open to UK Nationals only: Essential: Active SC with DV previously held, or active DV
UK Defence is going through its most significant transformation in recent history, as digital, physical and information threats increasingly overlap. You’ll help lead a growing Defence team securing the UK’s next generation of capabilities, from autonomous systems to positioning, navigation and timing (PNT). You’ll shape strategy and operating models for defence clients, lead delivery and develop the consultants around you
The essentials
£60,000 to £83,000 plus discretionary bonus
Hybrid, 2 to 3 days a week in London or Cheltenham, or on client site
What you’ll do
- Lead Cyber Security advisory and assurance across defence programmes, aligned to UK Defence and Government security requirements
- Shape and roll out cyber strategies, architectures and operating models that embed Secure by Design
- Oversee risk and maturity assessments, setting out controls and the risk reduction each one delivers
- Assess emerging threats and adversary capabilities, turning findings into practical recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Line manage consultants and own the delivery of project outcomes
- Act as a trusted adviser to client stakeholders and help grow the Defence portfolio through business development

What you’ll need
Essential:
- Cyber Security experience in defence or intelligence, or government.
- Working knowledge of Defence security policy, such as JSP 440, JSP 604 and MOD Secure by Design
- Experience developing Cyber Security strategy or operating models for clients
- Assurance experience against frameworks such as NIST, the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and ISO 27001 on high-assurance systems
- Line management and leadership of project delivery
- Supply chain security through MOD Defence Standards (DEFSTANs), Industry Security Notices (ISNs) and export controls
- Understanding of resilience in contested or degraded operational environments
