About the Role

Bridgend County Borough Council's ICT Department is committed to providing a customer-led information technology service. Our aim is to continuously improve our services by meeting the evolving business needs of our customers through appropriate investment in technology, infrastructure, and staff.

We are looking for a Cybersecurity Officer to reinforce delivery of effective cyber security controls to protect the Council's systems and data. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of effective cyber security controls, monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance.

We are seeking an individual with experience of:

  • Key cybersecurity principles including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA triad).
  • Enterprise malware detection and endpoint security platforms, such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint or equivalent solutions.
  • SIEM and SOAR solutions for security monitoring, alert investigation, and incident response.
  • Vulnerability assessment and scanning tools such as Nessus to identify, assess, and prioritise security vulnerabilities.
  • Maintaining accurate records of security incidents, assessments, and compliance activities, and develop security policies and procedures.
  • Security awareness training and promoting best practices across the organisation.
