Operations and Engineering Manager - Cyber Security
Iceland are looking for an experienced and dynamic operations and engineering manager to join our Cyber Security team.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Cyber Security and will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operational security activities that protect Iceland’s systems and data. This includes managing security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and ensuring operational processes are effective and aligned with best practices.
The role will also involve innovation in engineering new security measures and processes and improving those already in place. We are looking for a person who will drive changes to keep pace with the ever-evolving threat landscape in a manner which is in tune with a fast-paced food retailing business.
This is a senior and hands-on role that requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across IT and business teams. You will manage a small team of security analysts – so you will need to get involved in the “nuts and bolts” as well as providing leadership and driving development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
