ROLE PURPOSE
Support and lead the launch of vehicle cyber security products into manufacturing. You will be the hands-on cyber engineer at the plant: analysing logs, triaging and managing issues, and implementing fixes on vehicles so they can be released from the build. You will be the link between plant operations, ECU suppliers and the central cyber engineering teams during launch and ramp-up.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and support the plant launch of cyber products (key provisioning, SecOC, IPsec, secure logging) across new vehicle programmes
- Capture and analyse vehicle, ECU and end-of-line (EOL) logs to identify the root cause of cyber-related build failures
- Own issue management end to end: raise, triage, prioritise, track and close issues, with clear status reporting to programme and plant leadership
- Implement and verify solutions on affected vehicles (rework, re-provisioning, software or configuration updates) to get them out of the build
- Debug on vehicle and on rigs using CANoe, Wireshark and Corvus
- Validate fixes and hotfixes at embedded/system level before plant rollout, and confirm effectiveness on the line
- Support EOL and plant teams with cyber processes, work instructions and first-line fault diagnosis
- Feed lessons learned back into engineering, validation and EOL process design to prevent recurrence
- Produce concise issue reports, containment plans and launch readiness updates
- Provide on-site cover during critical build phases and launch events

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
