About The Role

Robert Walters is currently partnering with a prominent international organization that operates across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. Due to ongoing expansion and the increasing importance of cybersecurity, they are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Specialist to join their team on a 6-month contract basis. The role is based out of their Birmingham office with a hybrid working arrangement, offering a flexible working environment that balances in-office collaboration with remote work.

The Cyber Security Specialist will play a pivotal role in strengthening the organization’s security posture by implementing, managing, and enhancing various cybersecurity controls and systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled cybersecurity professional to contribute to high-impact projects, support threat detection and incident response efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the organization remains resilient against evolving cyber threats.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of security technologies, frameworks, and best practices, and will be instrumental in delivering innovative security solutions aligned with business objectives. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in cybersecurity roles. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.

Experience with cloud security platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure is essential, along with proficiency in security information and event management (SIEM) tools like Splunk, LogRhythm, and Azure Sentinel. Familiarity with security frameworks including NIST, CIS, and PCI-DSS is required to ensure compliance and best practices.

The candidate should have hands-on experience implementing security controls, managing vulnerabilities, and conducting threat hunting activities. Knowledge of endpoint security, privileged access management, and incident response procedures is also necessary. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly are key attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage security controls such as Extended Detection and Response (XDR), vulnerability scanning, and privileged access management to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Serve as the escalation point for security tickets raised through ITSM and incident management portals, ensuring timely resolution and effective incident handling.
  • Develop, operate, and improve InfoSec processes, including threat hunting, detection, monitoring, and incident response activities to identify and mitigate security threats proactively.
  • Lead the delivery of cybersecurity projects, including the deployment of new security tools and threat-informed systems, to enhance the organization’s security infrastructure.
  • Support and advise the organization on security controls, compliance requirements, and technical standards to ensure adherence to industry best practices.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of cybersecurity technologies to identify their effectiveness and suitability for organizational needs.
  • Assist with controls related to identity and access management (IAM), patch management, and security event monitoring to maintain a secure environment.
  • Identify emerging cyber threats through proactive threat hunting and exposure assessments, providing strategic insights to mitigate risks.
  • Participate in the incident management lifecycle, including preparation, containment, analysis, and response, to minimize the impact of security incidents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures that align with organizational objectives.
