Job summary

Technology is transforming Britain’s energy system, creating new possibilities and new challenges for how we keep it secure. Ofgem is looking for a Cyber Strategy Technical Expert to help shape our approach to cyber resilience across the sector.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We’re offering a permanent role with the chance to shape cyber security strategy and regulation across critical national infrastructure at a time of unprecedented change. You’ll join our Cyber Regulation and Emerging Technologies Directorate, where secure digital and operational technologies are fundamental to the clean energy transition.

With Clean Power 2030 accelerating digitalisation, infrastructure expansion and the arrival of new technologies, you’ll take on a highly specialist role with scope to shape how the energy sector manages supply chains and protects its most important assets.

Job description

We’re looking for someone with significant technical leadership experience in cyber security and critical national infrastructure, combined with the strategic judgement to balance security requirements, risk and wider commercial and economic considerations. You’ll also bring substantial experience of cyber policy or strategy in a regulated environment, accomplished stakeholder leadership skills and the ability to turn complex technical issues into clear advice for senior-level audiences.

You’ll join a high-performing and inclusive environment with a brilliant benefits package, broad exposure to cyber resilience across the energy sector and the chance to make a lasting impact on the security of national infrastructure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
