Build a brilliant future with Hiscox

About Us:

Hiscox London Market is one of the oldest and most successful Lloyd's syndicates. Our leadership and underwriting expertise make us the leading insurer of global risks. We offer a range of products and services, including property, marine, energy, specialty, casualty, and crisis management. We are committed to embracing risk in an evolving world, designing insurance solutions to meet our clients' ever-changing needs. The Hiscox cyber team is made up of four underwriters working hand in hand with a well-integrated support team of pricing actuaries, claims, and wording resources. Hiscox also benefits from central training and expertise at a group level as well as exposure management support.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an underwriter to join the cyber team, where we write ‘big ticket’ cyber and technology E&O policies, both on a primary and excess basis. Business is generally written on an open market basis, as well as some excess layer facilities. The team is working on growth opportunities, with ambitions to increase the size of the portfolio over the next 5 years, and the successful candidate will be joining a team on the way to making this growth ambition a reality.

The ideal candidate has experience in the cyber insurance market as a broker or underwriter. This role provides an excellent career and knowledge development opportunity. You will be part of a leading team with a broad appetite, ambitions for growth and embracing innovative opportunities. You will be exposed to a wide variety of US, UK and international risks that make it into the London market, both on an insurance and reinsurance basis. You will work with and learn from a team of experienced underwriters in a fast-paced environment, interacting with some of the most innovative large global companies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
