About The Role

We are recruiting a skilled and motivated Band 6 ADHD/Autism Waiting Well Practitioner to join our Neurodevelopmental Service on a 12 month fixed term basis working 22.5 hours per week.

This role focuses on providing high-quality telephone-based support, triage, and clinical oversight for children and young people awaiting ADHD/Autism assessment.

You will play a central role in ensuring safe waiting list management, early identification of risk, and timely support for families. You will also supervise and guide Band 4 Associate Practitioners who deliver routine Waiting Well check-ins and engagement calls.

This post is ideal for a practitioner with strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to improving the experience of families waiting for neurodevelopmental assessment.

Core Professional Requirement

Applicants must hold a recognised core professional qualification and current registration with one of the following:

  • NMC (Registered Nurse – Mental Health, Learning Disability, or Child Branch)
  • HCPC (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Practitioner Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist)
  • Social Work England (e.g. Social Worker)

Applicants without a core profession cannot be considered for this Band 6 post.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading clinical triage of neurodevelopmental referrals, applying risk tools and determining RAG ratings.
  • Providing telephone-based support, psychoeducation, and advice to parents and carers.
  • Delivering supported parent/carer clinics.
  • Offering guidance on reasonable adjustments, strategies, and available support while families await assessment.
  • Providing clinical supervision and oversight to Band 4 Associate Practitioners.
  • Supporting multi-agency communication with education, Early Help, social care, and third-sector partners.
  • Contributing to service development, pathway governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring high-quality documentation and adherence to the Waiting Well and Waiting Safely Policy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
