CYP Clinical Psychologist Autism Assessment Service

£60,000-£66,500 | West Midlands | Full-time

If you enjoy neurodevelopmental work but still want the space to think clinically, formulate properly and contribute meaningfully to diagnostic decisions, this role is worth a look.

You would join a clinician-led neurodevelopmental service supporting children and young people through autism assessment and diagnosis. The emphasis is on robust MDT decision-making, clear formulation and high-quality communication with families, rather than psychology operating as a standalone part of the pathway.

The wider team includes psychology, nursing, SALT, OT and medical colleagues, with senior clinical oversight and structured governance around the diagnostic pathway.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What makes the role different

The job plan gives proper recognition to the work around the assessment itself.

  • Around 18-22 hours per week for clinical assessment and feedback.
  • 8-10 hours protected for report writing and formulation.
  • 3-5 hours for MDT work, supervision, governance and audit.
  • Dedicated time for liaison and administration.

You will bring psychological expertise into developmental history, formulation, use of validated assessment tools and MDT diagnostic discussion, while integrating information from home, education and previous records.

There is also scope to contribute to wider neurodevelopmental work over time, depending on your experience, competence and service need.
