Job Description
Post Holder Responsibilities
- Respond within the hour to crisis referrals from acute hospital teams, community CAMHS teams, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct biopsychosocial risk assessment and clinical formulation of the crisis to create a care plan to reduce the crisis.
- Coordinate MDT meetings with CYPS professional network as part of discharge planning meetings for complex cases.
- Identify frequent attenders and work collaboratively with the community team to formulate a crisis plan to build resilience in CYP.
- Work effectively within the team to support service development.
- Support the induction of new team members, students, and graduate mental health workers.
- Utilize the support of the clinical team to assist in assessment and planning.
- Be proactive in identifying developmental needs and requesting support from a supervisor for learning opportunities.
Work Requirements
- Work on a shift pattern to assess patients across the urgent care pathway.
- Work autonomously and flexibly to manage day-to-day assessments and/or advising on the management of CYP under the age of 18 years and their families presenting to A&E Diversion Hubs based at Chase Farm, A&E and ward admissions to Barnet Hospital or North Middlesex University Hospital with self-harm and acute mental health difficulties.

Therapeutic Tasks
- Undertake a range of therapeutic tasks individually and jointly with members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Develop and maintain specialist clinical skills and expertise in the assessment of CYP psychiatric emergencies and deliberate self-harm.
- Receive and assess referrals from A&E, paediatric/general wards, Community Teams, schools, and health colleagues across the NCL as well as self-referrals from CYP and their families.
- Offer advice on the management of patients with mental health issues and non-organically based physical symptoms.
- Identify regular attendees at Acute Hospitals with mental health problems and, in liaison with Community CAMHS teams, make available the current care plan as and when appropriate.
IT Skills
- Use effective and efficient IT skills in the recording of clinical information and in communicating with colleagues from CAMHS and allied services.

Location Flexibility
- May be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.
- Locations include Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, or Islington.
- The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
