D365 F&O Functional Consultant - Finance Workstream Lead - 6-month Outside IR35 Contract - London / Hybrid

We are supporting a London based client who are looking for a strong Functional Consultant with exceptional experience across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), with a particular focus on Finance modules.

This is an inflight programme so the successful Functional Consultant will need to demonstrate that they can quickly understand the existing solutions, business processes and delivery landscapes, and provide immediate value across functional delivery, issue resolution and stakeholder management.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can operate confidently with Finance and business stakeholders, work through complex functional issues and drive them through to resolution. The successful candidate should also have the experience and delivery capability to step into Workstream Lead or Project Management responsibilities when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level functional expertise across the existing D365 F&O solution, with a strong focus on Finance.
  • Work closely with Finance stakeholders to understand and resolve functional issues, process challenges and outstanding requirements.
  • Provide deep expertise across areas including:
    • General Ledger
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Cash & Bank Management
    • Fixed Assets
    • Budgeting
    • Financial dimensions
    • Tax
    • Intercompany
    • Period and year-end close
    • Financial reporting
    • Multi-company / multi-currency environments
  • Analyse existing functionality and determine the most appropriate D365 F&O solution to meet business needs.
  • Review and challenge existing processes and designs where improvements or corrections are required.
  • Support the resolution of complex functional issues, including investigation of root cause and coordination with technical teams where required.
  • Work closely with technical, integration and data teams to ensure Finance-related issues are understood and resolved effectively.
  • Support ongoing testing, defect resolution, regression testing and business acceptance activities.
  • Support deployment, cutover, go-live and post-go-live activities as the programme progresses.
  • Ensure functional decisions, changes and solutions are properly documented.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for Finance stakeholders and provide clear advice on D365 F&O capabilities and limitations.
  • Take ownership of Finance or other functional workstreams when required.
  • Provide structure and direction across existing workstreams, ensuring activities, actions and dependencies remain on track.
  • Coordinate technical teams, business SMEs and third parties.
  • Manage workstream plans, milestones, risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Drive outstanding actions and decisions through to resolution.
  • Facilitate workshops, design discussions, issue-resolution sessions and stakeholder meetings.
  • Provide clear and concise status reporting to programme leadership.
  • Proactively identify delivery risks and escalate where appropriate.
  • Step into broader Project Management responsibilities when required, helping manage scope, priorities, timelines, resources and dependencies.
  • Support programme leadership in maintaining momentum across the existing delivery plan.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
