THE OPPORTUNITY

Join the collaborative, high-performing team on Somerville's Dairy and gain hands-on experience across all areas of modern dairy farming. You’ll assist with tasks from milking, calving, and feeding stock to effluent management, spraying, and fencing, while learning the skills - including shed and animal health management, mating plans, and moving stock.

This is a hands-on role for someone with a passion for farming, and a desire to grow their career in a collaborative, supportive environment.

About You

  • You’re enthusiastic, hands-on, and ready to contribute to the team’s success.
  • You’re eager to learn, develop your skills, and make a real impact on the farm.
  • Ideally, you’ll also have:
    • Experience in a similar dairy farming role, or a strong interest in developing one
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    • A proactive attitude, with initiative and a commitment to animal welfare and health & safety
    • A current NZ restricted or full driver’s licence

THE PĀMU FARM

Somervilles Dairy Unit is located just outside of Reefton. Somervilles is a progressive 492 ha property milking approximately 1,000 cows through a 60-bail rotary shed with ACR’s, MilkHub and an in-shed feeding system.
