Dairy Technical Manager
We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Dairy Technical Manager with a strong understanding of dairy farming, agricultural standards, and assurance schemes. You will have practical farm experience and the ability to apply your technical knowledge in a practical, supportive, and commercially focused way.
Required skills and experience:
- Approved Red Tractor and ancillary schemes academy training and successful outcomes
- Agricultural and/or Allied Industry experience
- Experienced certifier & or farm assessor desirable
- Approved witness assessor desirable
- Practical farm experience
- Experience of delivering training
- Good IT literacy skills
About the Opportunity
The role is responsible for supporting the effective delivery and ongoing management of the Red Tractor Dairy Scheme, acting as a key point of contact for First Purchasers and providing technical guidance and support across the dairy sector. Working closely with the Dairy Scheme Manager, Standard Owners, First Purchasers, auditors, farmers and support teams, the role will help maintain strong working relationships and ensure a high-quality, consistent service is delivered.
The position is primarily home-based, with regular field-based activities and time spent at the Milton Keynes office. As part of the Agri Certification and Review Team, the role will contribute to maintaining technical excellence, supporting certification activities and ensuring the requirements of the Red Tractor Dairy Scheme are consistently applied.
Key activities:
- Communicating and assisting with First Purchaser and Farmer technical queries in relation to the Dairy customer base
- Assist the field team in creating a highly trained, skilled and competent assessor pool for the Dairy work SAI Global offers according to scheme requirements and protocols
- Assist in certification for the Red Tractor Dairy Scheme and other Red Tractor schemes you are skilled in, along with bolt-ons in this area as required. Ensuring relationships, KPI’s and financial management of these schemes are key focuses
- Provide technical support for all Agri staff in the field and our client services team in a timely manner
- Liaising and communicating with Red Tractor and standard owner personnel in line with relevant protocol timelines and processes
- Be able to make certification decisions for the Dairy scheme with a solid understanding of the impacts and process involved when suspensions and withdrawals occur
- Reviewing and monitoring incoming reports and providing assessor feedback where applicable
- Reviewing and monitoring documentary evidence and final approval of assessment reports
- Preparation, delivery, and assistance of assessor and certifier training
- Support the Lead Dairy Manager on regular updates on scheme performance, attrition and certification accumulation
- Assist with your schemes for accreditation purposes as required
- Complete witnesses in the schemes you work within, in the required time frame
- Work with Agriculture Manager & other technical managers when needed to ensure customer & standard owner expectations are met, feeding back where resource/issues are noted by scheme
- Where required this role may involve the need to travel, stay away or undertake additional hours to enable completion of key tasks and scheme responsibilities
