Role Description

The Damp Proofing Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Watford. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting residential and commercial properties for signs of damp, rot, condensation, and structural moisture issues
  • Accurately diagnosing the underlying causes
  • Applying appropriate damp proofing systems, tanking solutions, and timber treatments
  • Carrying out re-plastering and exterior rendering to restore affected areas
  • Preparing work areas
  • Using hand and power tools safely
  • Mixing and applying materials
  • Ensuring all work meets company quality standards and industry regulations
  • Communicating clearly with clients
  • Providing updates on progress
  • Maintaining detailed job records
  • Following health and safety procedures at all times

  • Practical expertise in damp proofing, tanking solutions, and condensation control, with the ability to diagnose and treat moisture-related issues in a range of property types
  • Skills in re-plastering, patch repairs, and exterior rendering, including surface preparation and finishing to a high standard
  • Experience in dry rot, wet rot, and woodworm identification and treatment, with sound knowledge of relevant materials and application methods
  • Strong technical and problem-solving abilities, including reading job specifications, interpreting survey reports, and planning work efficiently
  • Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain findings and treatment plans in clear, accessible language
  • Ability to work safely with hand and power tools, access equipment (e.g., ladders, scaffolding), and materials, following health and safety regulations and company procedures
  • Proven reliability, time management, and attention to detail, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team on-site
  • Full, valid UK driving license and willingness to travel locally to client properties as required
  • Previous experience in damp proofing, construction, plastering, or a related building trade is highly beneficial; relevant vocational training or certifications are an advantage.
