Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Dash Cam and Telematics Installer role based in Houghton-Le-Spring. The installer will fit and configure dash cams, telematics devices, and related car electronics in a variety of vehicles, ensuring safe, neat, and compliant installations. Day-to-day tasks include assessing vehicle requirements, routing cables, mounting hardware, testing systems, and explaining functionality to customers.

The role involves maintaining accurate records of work completed, following health and safety procedures, and providing a professional, customer-focused service on every job. The installer may also support fault-finding, repairs, and upgrades, and occasionally travel within the North East and Yorkshire regions for on-site work.

Qualifications

  • Practical skills in automotive electrical installation, including safe wiring, cable routing, and use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience installing dash cams, telematics units, or similar in-vehicle electronics, with the ability to read basic wiring diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities for identifying and resolving installation or performance issues.
  • Customer service and communication skills to explain equipment operation clearly and interact professionally with clients.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to neat, high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently on-site, manage time effectively, and handle multiple jobs in a day.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the North East and Yorkshire regions as required.
  • Previous experience in auto electrical work, vehicle technology, or a related field; relevant vocational qualification is an advantage.

Salary: £30,000-£38,000 per year (depending on experience)

Hours: 40hr per week, Monday-Friday. Overtime available and bonus scheme to be discussed.
