Data & AI Consultant — Build a New Data Practice | Microsoft Fabric & Azure
📍 Remote (UK) · 💷 £60,000–£65,000 · 🚀 Newly created role · Public sector & enterprise

This isn't a seat on an established team where you're one of twenty. It's a newly created role to help build out a brand-new data practice inside a growing, forward-thinking UK technology consultancy — the chance to shape how it's done, own real engagements end to end, and grow as the practice grows. And it's fully remote, so you can do it from wherever you're most productive.
We're a well-established, Microsoft-focused technology and managed services provider, trusted by public sector and enterprise customers across the UK, and known for genuinely investing in our people and valuing their ideas. We deliver data, analytics and AI transformation — and we're now bringing more of that data work in-house, which is exactly where you come in.
The role
You'll help customers modernise and migrate their data estates — building the clean, well-governed data foundations that successful AI and machine learning depend on. Working across discovery, design and hands-on delivery, you'll run workshops to understand customer challenges, advise on data strategy and governance, and then actually build the solution on a modern Microsoft data platform. You'll sit alongside AI and software specialists, contributing to a growing practice and its reusable frameworks and accelerators.

What you'll bring
You don't need to have been a consultant before, or have years under your belt — what matters is that you're technically strong, good with customers, and have done some kind of stakeholder-facing or consultancy-style work (even an internal data team serving another department counts).
- Hands-on data engineering, analytics or data platform experience
- Experience with modern cloud data platforms — Microsoft Fabric is ideal, but transferable experience (Databricks, Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or similar) is absolutely fine
- A grasp of data architecture, governance and quality, and how modern data platforms feed AI/ML workloads
- The dual capability this role needs: the commercial/customer awareness to scope work and the technical ability to deliver it — pure advisory or pure hands-on profiles won't quite fit
- Confidence to work autonomously, make decisions and stand behind your recommendations
- Strong communication, personality and a customer-first mindset

Microsoft Fabric is still a young platform, so certifications are a plus rather than an expectation — and any Databricks or Microsoft data certs (DP-203, DP-700 and the like) are welcome. Public sector experience is a bonus too.
One important note: you'll need to hold SC (Security Check) clearance, or be eligible and willing to obtain it. Active SC clearance is a real advantage.
