A Mastercard company, Vocalink designs, builds and operates industry leading bank account based payment systems. Vocalink technologies power the UK’s real time and account-to-account (A2A) payments, settlements and direct debit systems, as well as the UK’s network of nearly 70,000 ATMs.
Within Vocalink, The Data & Insights Function Is Responsible For The Delivery Of Payment Reporting And Customised Analytics To Both Internal Stakeholders And External Customers. The Data & Insights Function Is Looking For a Data & AI Senior Product Owner To Deliver Innovative Data-led And AI Driven Solutions In a Range Of Areas Including:
- AI Enablement: Applying LLMs, GenAI, Agentic AI to solve customer problems in the payments ecosystem.
- Real-time trend monitoring and predictive analytics.
- Customer intelligence, behavioural segmentations and personalisation.
- Self-Service Business Intelligence.
- Early warning systems, alerts and automated anomaly detection across payment journeys.
The Role
The Data & AI Senior Product Owner is responsible for identifying gaps and opportunities for new data and AI services, developing compelling product propositions, and leading end-to-end product delivery through internal and external partnerships. Success in this role requires applying product innovation frameworks, defining clear product roadmaps, and driving commercialization and business impact.

The Successful Candidate’s Primary Responsibilities Will Be To:
- Contribute to the Data & Insights strategy, driving value from ideation through to the launch, scaling, and commercialisation of data-driven products and services.
- Identify high-value data and AI-led opportunities that address customer pain points and create new revenue-generating services across the UK payments ecosystem.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Data Science and Commercial, to deliver our data & insights product strategy, coordinate end-to-end product development using Agile methodologies and develop market/customer outreach documentation.
- Drive the development of new data solutions through the Mastercard's Studio framework, defining target audiences, validating customer needs, quantifying market opportunities, and developing business cases and pricing strategies.
- Define, prioritise, and deliver data product roadmaps using Agile methodologies.
- Present data & AI-led products to internal senior stakeholders and to customers, succinctly and clearly, translating complex technical concepts and data science models into clear customer benefits and business value.
- Act as a subject matter expert and advocate for Data & AI internally and externally.
- Support go-to-market activities, including customer engagement, commercialisation plans, partnership opportunities, and distribution strategies.
- Drive product documentation, requirements gathering, delivery governance, and project management best practices.
All About You:
- Experience in data & AI product management, data science, or a related field within Financial Services, FinTech, Insurance, or other regulated industries.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Data Science, Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience building and commercialising data-driven, advanced analytics, AI, and ML products using multiple data sources, including payments, card transactions, macroeconomic, and syndicated data.
- Experience in two or more of the following areas: forecasting and predictive analytics, self-service reporting, early warning systems, customer segmentation and scoring, credit risk insights, or personalisation.
- Strong understanding of AI and data science techniques, including statistical modelling, logistic regression, NLP, LLMs, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.
- Strong track record of applying Agile product development methodologies.
- Customer-centric mindset with a proven ability to build trusted relationships and deliver business value.
- Highly collaborative, with experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes against demanding timelines.
- Experience with Enterprise Business Intelligence platform e.g. PowerBI, Qlik Sense, Tableau or similar.
- Hands-on familiarity with scalable cloud-based data science platforms such as AWS, Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
- Basic understanding of data ingestion APIs, data flows, analytics tech stack and data platform architecture.
- Nice to have: programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in processing and analysing large-scale datasets.
