Data Analysis Apprentice

The Data Analysis Apprentice supports the Quality Department by collecting, analysing, and reporting on service performance and quality data across SCAS. The role helps ensure services are safe, effective, compliant, and always improving, while enabling the apprentice to develop practical data analysis skills along with a qualification.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Management

  • Support the collection, validation, and maintenance of quality, performance, and compliance data from multiple sources
  • Assist with organising data sets relating to audits, inspections, incidents, complaints, safeguarding, and service outcomes
  • Ensure data is accurate, complete, and stored in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse data to identify trends, risks, areas of good practice, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support the production of regular quality and performance reports for managers and senior colleagues
  • Help develop dashboards, charts, and visual summaries using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, or similar systems
  • Assist in responding to data requests for internal reviews, inspections, or regulatory purposes

Quality Improvement Support

  • Work with the Quality Team to support audits, reviews, and improvement plans
  • Help monitor progress against quality action plans and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Contribute to learning from incidents, complaints, and feedback through data analysis

Apprenticeship & Learning

  • Actively engage in the Data Analyst apprenticeship programme, completing required coursework and assessments
  • Apply learning directly to workplace tasks and projects
  • Attend training sessions, reviews, and progress meetings with training providers and line managers

Apprenticeship Details

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Course Contents

  • Use data systems securely to meet requirements and in line with organisational procedures and legislation including principles of Privacy by Design
  • Implement the stages of the data analysis lifecycle
  • Apply principles of data classification within data analysis activity
  • Analyse data sets taking account of different data structures and database designs
  • Assess the impact on user experience and domain context on data analysis activity
  • Identify and escalate quality risks in data analysis with suggested mitigation or resolutions as appropriate
  • Undertake customer requirements analysis and implement findings in data analytics planning and outputs
  • Identify data sources and the risks and challenges to combination within data analysis activity
  • Apply organizational architecture requirements to data analysis activities
  • Apply statistical methodologies to data analysis tasks
  • Apply predictive analytics in the collation and use of data
  • Collaborate and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders using appropriate styles and behaviours to suit the audience
  • Use a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting, and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data
  • Collate and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and convert into infographics, reports, tables, dashboards, and graphs
  • Select and apply the most appropriate data tools to achieve the optimum outcome

Off-the-job training will follow the time allocations outlined in the Occupational Standard within the workplace.

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 4-9)
    • Maths (grade 4-9)
  • Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Essential

  • Confident with numbers and basic data handling
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to organise workload and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and develop data analysis skills
  • Professional, confidential, and trustworthy approach

Desirable

  • An interest in data, quality, performance, or health and social care
  • Experience using spreadsheets, databases, or reporting tools
  • Basic understanding of charts, graphs, or data visualisation
  • Awareness of quality standards or regulatory requirements in care services
