About The Role
Hays Technology is seeking an experienced Power BI Data Analyst to join a prominent public sector organization on a short-term contract basis. This role is pivotal in supporting a critical data and compliance initiative driven by new legislative requirements. The primary focus of this position is to review, cleanse, and consolidate data stored across multiple Excel spreadsheets, transforming it into a structured and insightful analytical model. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and developing interactive dashboards and reports that enable operational and strategic decision-making. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes that enhance regulatory compliance, improve service delivery, and promote data-driven decision-making within a complex organizational environment.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, including:
- Proven experience developing solutions in Power BI, with a strong portfolio of dashboards and reports.
- Advanced skills in data cleansing, transformation, and data modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in Power Query, DAX, and Excel at an expert level.
- Experience consolidating fragmented datasets into reliable analytical models.
- Knowledge of predictive analytics, trend analysis, and risk scoring methodologies.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather and translate requirements effectively.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver results within tight deadlines.
Desirable qualifications include experience with SQL and database analysis, geospatial analysis, heat mapping, or hotspot visualization. Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices, particularly within regulatory or compliance-driven environments, will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:
- Assessing and enhancing the quality, consistency, and accuracy of existing datasets.
- Consolidating multiple Excel-based data sources into a cohesive analytical framework.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports tailored for various stakeholder needs.
- Creating comprehensive reporting solutions for inspections, risk assessments, customer communications, and remedial actions.
- Analyzing historical data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform strategic decisions.
- Developing predictive models and risk-based analytics to support proactive compliance activities.
- Delivering actionable insights through visualizations and reports that facilitate informed decision-making and intervention strategies.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
