About The Role

The Principal Consultant - Data Engineering & Architecture (GCP) role is a critical position within Wipro’s Data, Analytics & AI practice, based in the UK with a hybrid work model. This role involves providing technical leadership across client engagements, primarily focusing on delivering cloud-native data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The successful candidate will collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to define scalable data architectures, lead delivery teams, and support enterprise data transformation initiatives. The role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in cloud data platforms, data engineering, and architecture, aiming to enable clients to harness the power of data for better decision-making and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with GCP or equivalent cloud data platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with dbt and cloud-native data engineering services
  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale ETL/ELT solutions and data products
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data quality, and monitoring practices
  • Familiarity with automation, CI/CD, and DevOps methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale data programs and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and consulting skills
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments
  • Preferred certifications: Google Professional Data Engineer and/or Cloud Architect
  • Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, MLOps, Generative AI, and Lakehouse architectures is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud data platforms and data products aligned with client business needs
  • Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and analytics solutions leveraging Python, SQL, dbt, and cloud-native services
  • Establish and promote engineering standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, performant, secure, and operationally efficient
  • Define enterprise data architectures, lead data modeling activities, and design platform solutions for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases
  • Provide expertise in Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, and data integration strategies
  • Support technology selection, develop roadmaps, and contribute to solution proposals
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary delivery teams, providing architecture governance and technical oversight
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, manage delivery risks, and ensure client satisfaction
  • Implement testing, validation, and data quality frameworks to maintain high standards
  • Drive the adoption of DevOps, DataOps, and CI/CD practices to streamline deployment and operational processes
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, data governance standards, and industry regulations
