Newly Created Role: Data Insights Specialist
This is a newly created role sitting at the intersection of Commercial Finance, Growth, and Technology. The successful candidate will become the go-to person for turning raw data into reporting and trend analysis that drives commercial and growth decision-making across the business, spanning customer, membership, trade, and operational performance.
This role is being created at a pivotal moment. We are in a high growth stage, mid-migration to a new data warehouse, consolidating reporting across all of our systems. Today, extracting meaningful reporting requires heavy SQL work directly against individual data hubs. This person will play a central role in shaping the accuracy, structure, and reporting logic of the new data warehouse as it is finalised, acting as commercial and reporting-accuracy support on that project. Getting this right is fundamental to how fast and how well we make growth decisions as the business scales, so this directly underpins Growth, not just Technology.
Over time, there is a genuine opportunity for this role to grow, both in scope and, as the business scales, into a wider data and reporting team. This is a foundational hire.
You'll be mentored closely by the Commercial Finance and Strategy Director, who owns the Growth function and will steer commercial and growth priorities, while you bring the technical depth and cross-functional connection to make the data usable, trusted, and actionable.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Trend Analysis
- Own, create, and evolve regular reporting across customer, membership, trade, and operational performance
- Build and maintain trend analysis that helps Commercial Finance and Strategic Growth and wider leadership understand business performance and emerging patterns
- Translate ambiguous business questions into clear, accurate data outputs
- Define and track relevant KPIs for an ecommerce/app-based, membership-driven business

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Data Warehouse Project
- Partner across the reporting and data-accuracy voice within the data warehouse migration project, working closely with Technology
- Support validating that the data structures, definitions, and outputs being built will meet commercial and finance reporting needs
- Support the finalisation of the warehouse from an accuracy and usability standpoint, tracking progress, flagging risks, and helping ensure reconciliation and accuracy are maintained
- Support the transition from current SQL-heavy, hub-by-hub reporting to a universally accepted data source used for strategic decision-making by the SLT and management
Systems & Technical
- Develop and maintain a strong working understanding of our current systems and data hubs, including the SQL required to extract and interpret data from them
- Work confidently with SQL in the interim (pre-warehouse) environment, and help define reporting logic and data models for the future state
- Flag data quality issues, inconsistencies, or gaps proactively
Cross-Functional Communication
- Act as a translator between technical/data concepts and commercial stakeholders across the business
- Build relationships with teams outside Finance and Tech to understand their reporting needs and pain points
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences, including SLT
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Strong SQL skills and confidence working directly with data hubs/systems rather than pre-built dashboards alone
- Proven experience building reporting and trend analysis in a commercial or finance context
- Excellent communication skills, able to work equally well with Technology and with non-technical commercial teams
- A genuine interest in and understanding of KPIs relevant to an ecommerce/app-based business
- Comfortable operating with a degree of ambiguity. This is a new role in a business that is actively building its data infrastructure
- Self-starter mentality with the judgement to know when to lead and when to seek guidance from the Commercial Finance Director
