About The Role
Hays Technology is seeking an experienced Power BI Data Analyst to join a prominent public sector organization on a contract basis. The initial engagement is set for three months, during which the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a significant data and compliance initiative. This project is driven by new legislative requirements aimed at enhancing risk management and regulatory compliance across the organization’s estate. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a large, complex environment, delivering impactful data solutions that enable informed decision-making and operational improvements.
The primary focus of this position is to review, cleanse, and consolidate data stored across multiple Excel spreadsheets, transforming it into a reliable analytical model. The analyst will develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, providing insights that support proactive risk mitigation and compliance activities. The role requires a proactive individual capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and engaging effectively with stakeholders at various levels. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data analysis and Power BI development, with proven experience in delivering business intelligence solutions. Essential qualifications include advanced proficiency in Power Query, DAX, and Excel, along with a solid understanding of data cleansing, transformation, and modelling techniques. Experience consolidating fragmented datasets into comprehensive analytical models is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather requirements and translate them into effective data solutions. Additional desirable skills include SQL and database analysis, geospatial analysis, and knowledge of data governance and quality standards. A background supporting regulatory or compliance-driven projects will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Assess and enhance the quality, consistency, and accuracy of existing datasets to ensure reliable analysis.
- Consolidate multiple Excel-based data sources into a structured and scalable analytical model.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports tailored for operational and senior management stakeholders.
- Create comprehensive reporting solutions covering inspections, risk assessments, customer communications, and remedial works.
- Analyze historical data to identify trends, patterns, and potential areas of concern.
- Develop predictive analytics models and risk scoring tools to support proactive decision-making.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that data solutions meet organizational needs.
- Deliver actionable insights through visualizations and reports that facilitate compliance and operational improvements.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure adherence to data governance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
